5 Fabulous Fandom (Tea) Finds!

Who knew that a throwaway pig character from the original Dragon Ball- which, fun fact, is based on the Chinese legend of Journey to the West— could be found in so many different oolong flavors?

Rose is a special one, because depending on your fandom preference, it could reference multiple fandom personas! I always think of Rose Lalonde from Homestuck, but Dr. Who’s Companion is a close second.

I could sit here all day and talk to you about the wonderful health properties of tea (which are many) and all the ways to leverage them (which you might have already seen on TeaMuse), but do you want to know the real thing that got me hooked on tea?

Fandom.

Yep. A flat stomach may have been the initial beckoning, but what’s kept me here, sipping steadily on the side of my also-prolific coffee habit* is the everlasting love of books, films, TV series, anime, cartoons, and epic other works of art that are best consumed in like company.

So, without further hem-hawing or ado, let’s jump right into the best teas that fandom has to offer!

Earl Grey From Star Trek

Did someone say Captain Jean-Luc Picard? This is one of my favorites to recommend on Adagio because there’s simply so many different iterations to choose from.

Assuming that you’re sipping while captaining your own interstellar voyage—or is it intergalactic? Interplanetary? Sci-fi terminology has me lost in outer space sometimes—, you can pick your Earl Grey depending on where you are in your journey. There’s Moonlight for a pensive moment, the classic Bravo for celebrating your adventures, and Lavender for when you just want to chill out, and Rooibos for when you want to go to sleep. (But just between you and me, while we’re speaking of the starry night, I heard there’s another Earl Grey that only comes out during the full moon…)

Jasmine From Avatar: The Last Airbender

Whatever you do, don’t cry. Don’t sniffle back your tears and rewatch Uncle Iroh in the “Leaves on the Vine” episode of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Don’t chuckle sadly to yourself anytime someone questions if something is a delicious tea or a deadly poison. Just don’t.

Keep yourself busy with friends like Jasmine Phoenix Pearls, Jasmine Yin Hao, Jasmine Silver Needle, Jasmine Chun Hao, and caffeine-free Rooibos Jasmine for when you give up and do actually cry yourself to sleep in memory of everyone’s favorite uncle.

Not to mention these exquisite Jasmine options on Masters Teas.

Oolong from Dragonball Z

Who knew that a throwaway pig character from the original Dragon Ball— which, fun fact, is based on the Chinese legend of Journey to the West— could could be found in so many different oolong flavors?

Some of my favorites are Blackberry Sage Oolong, Grapefruit, Maple Creme Oolong, and whoever came up with Cherry Marzipan Oolong just needs a Captain Picard-style slow clap already. If flavored teas aren't your thing, check out Ali Shan, Golden Flower, Anxi Wulong Low Fire, and Formosa Fancy Bai Hao, the layer of depth these oolongs have, not to mention the number of infusions you can get out of them, is sure to please.

Rose from Doctor Who or Homestuck

This is a special one, because depending on your fandom preference, it could reference multiple fandom personas! I always think of Rose Lalonde from Homestuck, but Doctor Who’s Companion is a close second. (Both hit me around the same time in college, begging pardon for nostalgiabombing!)

For your rosy needs, try adding some extra Rose Petals or Rose Hips to some of your favorite blends to add a touch of rosy flavor, Summer Rose, and Lychee Rose Green. Or, try the Love Petals collection! Perfect for Valentine's day coming up, too.

Dragons from... Anything

We all know where this is going. Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, all the quintessential mainstays of legendary-grade fantasy all have dragons!

So get sipping on Black Dragon Pearls, Dragonwell (personal favorite), Sleeping Dragon, and Green Dragon Pearls. (There’s also Dragon Fruit Dream, for when you do get tired of waking the dragon and want something decaffeinated.)

What are your favorite fandom-inspired teas? Let me know in the comments!

Cheers!
