My husband and I recently visited Tea Tyme and What Nots in Fredericksburg, Virginia. We arrived around 3:00 in the afternoon, with the intention of enjoying a late lunch with tea.

Tea Tyme and What Nots is located in Historic Downtown Fredericksburg, conveniently situated off of the main street that is full of antique and gift shops. The establishment is quaintly decorated with mismatched tables, chairs, tablecloths and such.

Upon entering Tea Tyme, we were quickly greeted and told to sit where we liked. Due to the late timing of our lunch, we were the only guests present, so had our pick of all the tables. Our greeter was also our server and the preparer of our food and beverages, apparently the owner of the establishment.

The menu offers about thirty different teas, half black, about a fourth green, and the other fourth herbal and other. For food, there are a few salads, a couple soups of the day, and about ten sandwich selections. We ordered the Chicken Curry Salad on croissant, Tuna Salad on cinnamon raisin bread, cream of broccoli soup, and a side salad. For tea, we selected the iced tea of the day - Sweet Raspberry, and a two-cup pot of Raspberry Honey black tree.

The food selections were tasty and well-presented. They weren't fabulous, but were acceptably good. The Chicken Curry Salad stood out among the other items. The Sweet Raspberry iced tea was very good - I would certainly order it again. The black Raspberry Honey tea was okay. We were disappointed that a metal tea ball was used for brewing and was still in the pot when served. The server indicated that it needed to brew a little longer. We are particular about brewing time when we make tea at home, so we like for tea to be brewed properly when we visit a tea establishment.

We were too full for dessert, but the sweets looked very tasty in the front case. Three flavors of pound cake, two or three pies, cheesecake, yellow cake with chocolate frosting, and a lovely orange cake were very tempting. The server/owner said that her mother-in-law made all the desserts from scratch and that many guests visit just for dessert and tea.

Overall, we were happy with our visit. It is a quaint little establishment, perfect for a visit while antiques shopping in Fredericksburg. The tea itself wasn't perfect, but the service was excellent, food was good, and the desserts look promising.
